L.C.M. and H.C.F

1.Common factor and Multiples : A natural number is said to be a common factor of two or more numbers if it is a factor of each of them.

   Ex: 4 is a common factor of 8 and 12.
       4×2 = 8
       4×3 = 12

A whole number is said to be common multiple of two or more numbers if it is a multiple of each of them.

Ex: 32 is common multiple of 8 and 16
              8×4 = 32     16×2 = 32

2. Highest Common Factor: Highest Common Factor (H.C.F) or Greatest Common Divisor (G.C.D) or Greatest Common Measure (G.C.M) of two or more than two numbers is the greatest number that divides each one of them exactly.

3. Lowest Common Multiple (L.C.M): The least number which is exactly divisible by each of them given numbers is called their lowest common multiple (L.C.M) or least common multiple.

4. Relationship between L.C.M. and H.C.F.. of two Numbers: Product of two given numbers is equal to product of their H.C.F. and L.C.M. Thus, for any two given numbers.
